Pivoting wing wave machine
As the name suggests, the wave in this case is produced by pivoting wings submerged in water. The wings are moved to and fro by heavy-duty gears (installed in the dry in the basement) at an angle of approx. 60° and a speed of approx. 20 strokes per minute. The system produces a true-to-the-original, constantly varying wave pattern. These wave machines are designed for continuous operation over decades and feature, besides high quality and adaptability, the following benefits on even the largest of wave pools:
- Pivoting wing wave machines are located completely underfloor.
- Pivoting wing wave machines are virtually maintenance-free.
- Pivoting wing wave machines installed completely underfloor allow the water in the pool to be dammed up at random heights for competition purposes.
- Pivoting wing wave machines are easily fitted to the pool with no great structural work required and large manufacturing tolerances for the structure.
- Pivoting wing wave machines take up only a minimum of space.
- Pivoting wing wave machines operate with interference and are highly efficient thanks to the design developed and patented by KÖSTER. The result is that only relatively small driving power is required.
- A power requirement of 3.6 kW is needed per meter of pool width in the area where the waves are produced, working out at a total figure of approx. 44 kW in a 12.5 m wide pool.
- Pivoting wing wave machines are equipped with an adjustable stop angle enabling the wave pattern to be modified in a certain area and the swimming pool geometry adapted accordingly.
- Pivoting wing wave machines - to the extent that they make contact with the water - are made of seawater, rust and acid-resistant special steel with a mat silver surface.
- Pivoting wing wave machines run quietly - no noise-reduction facilities required.
- The wave pattern produced is distinguished by clear shape. The wave pattern changes constantly so that when the run-out section of the pool floor is designed correctly vibrant surf is produced.
