Pneumatic hinged partition

Make two out of one

A 50 m swimming pool is great for sporting competitions but can be very disturbing in daily use, particularly when several groups want to train and swim at the same time.
Partitioning with a pneumatic hinged partition from KÖSTER quickly solves the problem.

The third wall for turning

The hinged partition, made of glass fibre reinforced polyester with laminated steel straps, guarantees high rigidity over the full pool width.

The partition enables the swimmers to practise their usual dynamic kick-off. Non-slip surfaces below water give a strong foothold.

The partition is – depending on the length - 20 – 40 cm thick and reaches from the pool floor to just under the water surface. The standard execution includes a step on one side.

The outer surfaces are equipped with lane markings and can also be additionally fitted with holders for swimming lines.

PNEUMATICS – trouble free and simple

The long years of experience in manufacturing pneumatic lifting floors, wave machines as well as start and turning bridges also applies to KÖSTER hinged partitions, featuring simple and reliable operation in line with the proven pneumatic principle:

Phase 1
Phase 1

Stage 1: When the complete pool is used for a group, the partition rests in a recess in the pool floor, flush with the tiles.

Phase 2
Phase 2

Stage 2: The partition is raised by blowing compressed air into it from the bottom by means of jets in the floor. The ensuing uplift causes it to rise, pivoting on the wall fixture.

Phase 3
Phase 3

Stage 3: When the partition has reached its vertical position, resting against two previously extended stops, it is locked by two bolts. Both the stop and the locking bolts are pneumatically operated (a compressor supplies both the air jets in the pool floor and the stop and locking bolts with compressed air at approx. 1 bar overpressure).

Phase 4
Phase 4

Stage 4: Lowering is even simpler. When locked in the vertical position (Stage 3), the air escapes from the chamber in the wall via small outlets on the top. When the stop and locking bolts are released pneumatically, the partition lowers slowly through its dead weight and the damping effect of the water to its horizontal floor position (Stage 1).

Reliable and safe with GFK

The GFK (glass fibre reinforced polyester) design is completely corrosion and maintenance- free.

The mechanicals merely comprise two corrosion and maintenance-free fixtures on the pool sides. The equally corrosion and maintenance-free stop and locking mechanism is located on the basement side of the pool walls, and thus fully accessible.

A hinged partition from KÖSTER necessitates only minimum work on the part of the customer:

  • Recess in pool floor. Appropriately dimensioned to accept the partition.
  • Laying of the air supply lines for the air jets and the pneumatic bolts.
  • Installation of the stop and lock mechanism.

No extra work required for the pool statics.

KÖSTER supply the complete system ready for hand-over, including compressor station and switch cabinet.
