Types

All KÖSTER pumps embody the following features:

  • large delivery volume (from 100 l/s to 8000 l/s)
  • low delivery height (from 0.5 m to 10 m or up to 25 m on pumps with semi-axial impeller)
  • axial intake and discharge flow of the pumping medium in the hydraulic system
  • worldwide recognised high quality with great attention paid to detail, details which are not readily apparent at first glance or when making a slap-dash comparison.

Although obviously identical in many ways, KÖSTER pumps still differ in a number of aspects to make them ideal for numerous applications:

  • installation in horizontal or vertical position
  • arrangement of the drive machine, either above or below water
  • direct connection of the propeller to the drive machine or drive machine and work machine separated by a coupled shaft e.g. for installation at different building levels
  • installation in upright position (allowing the pump to transmit its own weight and the water in it to the sole of the pump station) or suspended from a machine base so that the actual hydraulics are completely surrounded by the pumping medium.
  • complete with pipe housing or of open design for installation in existing  pipelines and shafts
  • with grease lubricated roller bearings or with low maintenance, medium lubricated ceramic or rubber shaft bearings
  • with different systems sealing the drive shaft against the pump housing or as an hermetic pump
  • with extensive opportunities for lining up the pump dimensions (above the minimum dimensions) with the contractors / planners specifications or with existing structural dimensions. Propeller pumps are not suitable for mediums with high levels of contamination such as solids or a large proportion of fibres materials. For this reason they should only be operated behind a screen with appropriate gap width.

Propeller pumps - from the castings and on - are built to order, resulting in average delivery times of 2 to 3 months from the time an order is placed.
