ADLER electric winches with the drum free-wheel
Normally, electric winches are controlled “forwards” and “backwards” by reversing contactors. On winches with built-in drum free wheeling facility however the cable can be pulled off by hand with no great effort at any required speed. In this case, the drum is isolated from the motor’s power flow by slewing the switching lever. This operation causes 2 gears to be pushed together. When the desired length of cable has been wound off the positive connection between motor and winch must be restored by reversing the switching lever. The motor is automatically locked electrically.
Electric winches with drum free-wheel may only be used for horizontal pulling and not for raising and lowering of loads!
The standard stroke limit cannot be used on cable winches with drum free-wheel facility because it is directly driven by the motor. On the models WE 1 R and WE 5 R a stroke limit (drum drive) must be installed. On the WE 10 R and WE 20 R models a gearbox switch can be fitted on the drive bearing plate side.
