ADLER electric winches with standby manual drive

Electric winch with standby manual drive

General

The standby manual drive permits raising and lowering of loads without the use of electrical energy. These winches are used in cases where safe and reliable operation is guaranteed in the event of power cuts e.g. in connection with hardening furnaces, flue gas valves or on passenger conveyance. On the electric winches WE 1 H and WE 5 H, the hand drive is fitted to the drive bearing plate side. On manual drive, the electric motor is decoupled and the manual drive engaged simultaneously. The load is then held in position by the pressure brake and no longer by the motor brake on manual operation.

For this reason the standard stroke limit is not used but a special stroke limit (drum drive). The stroke limit enables overrunning of the end limits by hand.

In connection with the stroke limit (drum drive) equipped with snap switches, almost all special designs are available as with the standard stroke limits.

On the winches WE 10 H and WE 20 H the hand drive is fitted to the motor side. In this case, the motor is not decoupled as on the WE 1 H and WE 5 H models but the brake on the motor released. The load is then held in manual operation by the pressure brake. In this case, the standard stroke limit is used but fitted in the manual operation housing. The desired shut-off distances (travel) can be taken from the table. These stroke limits do not allow for any overrunning of the end limits by hand.

On the winches WE 1 H, WE 5 H and WE 20 H designs 50/4 and 6, the reversing contactors required for the control can be fitted. On the electric winch WE 10 H, the contactors must be located in a separate switchbox.

Electric winches for passenger conveyance

Electric winches with standby manual drive can also be used for passenger conveyance. In this case, however, certain technical regulations must be observed. Load capacity is reduced to 2/3 of the nominal load. The type designation for winches approved for passenger conveyance is, for example, “WE 5 P design”.

Stroke limitation can also be supplied but only in a special housing in conjunction with the brake release device. For this reason, the shut-off distances associated with the standard stroke limit do not apply. Exact shut-off distances available upon request.
